The anticipated recharge of Lake McConaughy from the generous snow melt

in the North Platte river basin has not reached Lake McConaughy.

Irrigation demands for the water have hot even begun; therefore, the

Ogallala Yacht Club board has voted unanimously to abandon plans for a

2003 Governor's Cup or Trans-Mac Regatta.  It would be unfair to sailors

coming from a distance to encounter problems launching.  The extended

ramps have been a help but are expected to become inadequate for cruiser

launch by race time.

   The Yacht Club looks forward to future racing seasons, anticipating a

return to the weekend before Labor Day for the Trans-Mac and the

Governor's Cup on Labor Day weekend.
