US SAILING divides the country into ten Yacht Racing Areas (YRA) which are made up of several regional sailing associations like SAIL. Each is designated by a letter. SAIL, representing 22 clubs in four states, is a member of Area F along with the Central States Sailing Association (CSSA) which represents almost 50 clubs in seven states and the Texas Sailing Association (TSA) representing more than 50 clubs in the state of Texas.

Area F financed by dues from association members, coordinates US SAILING championship events at the semi-final level, hears appeals, represents the associations to US SAILING and helps administer judge and race officer development programs.
