SAIL's Area & Region

Area

US SAILING, the national governing body for sailing in the United States, divides the country into ten Yacht Racing Areas (YRA) which are made up of several regional sailing associations (RSA) like SAIL.  Each is designated by a letter. SAIL is in Area F.

Other members of Area F are the Central States Sailing Association (CSSA) which represents almost 50 clubs in seven states and the Texas Sailing Association (TSA) representing more than 50 clubs in the state of Texas.

For more about US SAILING, see www.ussailing.org/.

Area F is financed by dues from association members and coordinates US SAILING championship events at the semi-final level, hears appeals, represents the associations to US SAILING and helps administer judge and race officer development programs.  Each of the three RSAs has two votes in the Area F Council of Sailing Associations. Oficers, elected for two-year terms, are rotated among the RSAs and the Secretary-Treasurer votes in case of ties.

Region

SAIL, representing 22 clubs in four states (Colorado, New Mexico, western Nebraska, & Wyoming), is a member of Area F .
